On Halloween, 2008, the Dexateens traveled out to "Old Bryce", the abandoned Jemison Mental Hospital on the outskirts of their hometown, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in an attempt to conjure up whatever spirits might still lurk there.
They took their guitars, recording equipment, and a handful of songs.
Things did not go according to plan.

Crushing Cancer
As you can see, Egans was packed out: the numbers are in and it is amazing. Thanks to The Dexateens, Model Citizen, Carroll County Picture show and YOU - $2,600 was raised last Friday night to help Crush Cancer and help out Brian Rogers of the The Penetrators.
That's off the charts and way more than what was expected to be made. Egans is not that big of a place, even with all the bar stools removed. As Elliott McPherson of the Dexateens said "...that is KILLER." Read more for The Penetrators show info and a viedo Photo by-David Smith- dsmithimages.com Read more »
Star Search 2009!
If last Friday night was the first time you have ever come face to face with The Dexateens or you are a long time Dexateens fan they want you to know that they want you to be a part of their new music video. Spots are filling up and they don't want you the hometown fans to miss out on this sweet, sweet action.
Here Is how to be a part of it - straight from John Smith of The Dexateens:
We're doing a video for a song called "Caption," which asks the musical question
"If there was a caption on the picture of your life
would it tell the story that you tell yourself inside?"
That's the gist of it right there, with some elaboration about hopes, fears, present, past. Deep songwriterly things, understand?
So the video idea is to feature pictures of people with--wait for it--CAPTIONS. This is where you come in.
We'd like to feature our friends' pictures along with whatever text you'd choose as the caption (On the picture. Of your life.). Read more »
