Old Bryce pt. 1

As a lead up to Halloween over the next three days we will be showing you the parts to Paul Hanninen and The Dexateens film Old Bryce.

On Halloween, 2008, the Dexateens traveled out to "Old Bryce", the abandoned Jemison Mental Hospital on the outskirts of their hometown, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in an attempt to conjure up whatever spirits might still lurk there.
They took their guitars, recording equipment, and a handful of songs.
Things did not go according to plan.
Part 1: In which we learn the history of the hospital, the band arrives at the hospital and performs, and plans go awry.

Bronze Bomber at Wilhagan’s - 7pm

  Tonight Tuscaloosa's own olympic medalist “Bronze Bomber” Deontay Wilder will hold a fundraiser at Wilhagan’s. Wilder will be signing autographs, posing for pictures and a few lucky supporters will win a chance to box the Bronze Medalist on Big Screen Nintendo Wii Boxing.
All proceeds will be donated to The Kid’s Gloves Organization.

Mess'in With Texas!

This weekend in Tuscaloosa has officially been declared the "Wellthatscool.com Messin With Texas Weekend" by the president of Alabama.
  Two nights of excitement and entertainment book-ending the University of Alabama football game as they take on the North Texas Mean Green.
This all starts Sept. 18 at 7pm when DCDC presents "The Big Lebowski" at the Historic Bama Theatre.
   From there head right down the street to the Mellow Mushroom where your ears be tickled by the sounds of Chinese Dentist, a classic Tuscaloosa funky band and Armless Victory, a dj that mixes live instruments with beats. $Bowling for Dollars$

  It is that time once again to pick up a big ole' ball and roll it down the lane! Wednesday, Sept. 2 is the start date for the new season of the Wellthatscool.com Bowling League.
This is a bowling league for people who are not super bowlers and don't bowl at all. Everyone gets a handicap based on how they bowl to make it fair. It works like this: there are three person teams,  is cost $12 dollars a person a week and that covers three games shoes and keeping up with scores and everything else, the league runs 16 weeks.
The best part is and  the end everyone wins money!!!
Our own Bo Hicks says "I have grown to love this its like a tiny little weekend in the middle of the week its great fun to enjoy a sport with friends and have a few beers and catch up."
 So come on out Wednesday at 7:30. Be a part of bowling, its the only sport where beer in encouraged. Read more »
