Prothro Graduates

Prothro played for Alabama for the better part of three seasons.  In that time, he made fans all over the country and had fan sites dedicated to him. He also made what is commonly agreed upon as the best catch ever in college football, simply known as "The Catch."

During a blowout win against Florida, his career was cut short when he came down on his leg wrong and snapped it in two.

I was in the stands for “The Catch” and for the broken leg.

My dad who lives out of state called me immediately after both plays.

When "The Catch" happened, the play immediately went under review to see if he had caught the ball. People in the stands could not tell, but my phone rang and my dad who was watching the game on ESPN yelled….”He caught it..he caught it…I don’t think it is a touchdown…he may be down on the 1 yard line but he caught it!”

It was also my dad who called, somberly when Prothro broke his leg.  In the stadium, it is had to know what is going on sometimes during the down times …my dad called and simply said “He is never going to play again.”

Thanks Prothro…you gave us some great moments.
