Firefighters and Bagpipes

   The Tuscaloosa News has a great article about Tuscaloosa firefighters/bagpipers.
   In November of 2008, Tuscaloosa firefighter Eric O’Neil "...founded the department’s chapter of the Emerald Society, an organization dating back to the mid-1800s that celebrates Irish heritage within law enforcement and firefighting departments across the country. A major element of an Emerald Society is the bagpipe and drum bands."
   O’Neil and five other firefighters currently comprise Tuscaloosa's Emerald Society. They provide a band to play at funerals and gatherings so the TFD does not have to bring in a band from out of town.
